Timing Out

Postby dreamweaver » Sat Apr 16, 2011 9:40 am

Sometimes I compose a thread, go away, do a bit of housework and stuff, come back and try to post said thread only to be timed out and my posting lost to the ether of the unknown within the realms of the internet.

I've checked my account status but can't find if there is a timeout for my login session.

I do recall from days of old that I should save a deliciously crafted post in word before I hit the 'submit' button on a forum but sometime I forget.

Is there a login timeout? And if there is please point me in the direction to change it.

Here's the boring technical answer. There are three timeouts at play when posting a message:

  1. Session timeout
  2. Maximum time to submit forms
  3. Login expiration time

I reckon it's the middle one we are talking about so I'll change from the default of 7200 seconds (2 hours) to 14400 seconds (4 hours).

If your housework takes any longer than that, then you should hire a cleaner, see "Residents Recommend" section of the board
